Forward head posture(FHP) is an abnormality of posture routinely observed in subject with wide variety of musculoskeletal complaints. With this posture, the head´s center of gravity is forward of the spine´s weight-bearing axis, which increases the strain within the posterior cervical muscles, ligaments and apophyseal joints. Any decrease leads to FHP has been identified by many authors as a significant factor in a variety of musculoskeletal pain syndromes. Muscle energy technique(MET)has been hypothesized to lengthen and strengthen muscle to increase fluid mechanism and decrease local edema and mobilize a restricted articulation. Previous studies have proved the effect of deep neck flexor strengthening on FHP, therefore it was a need to check whether the deep neck flexor strengthening alone has effect on FHP or MET used to relieve the tightness of neck extensors combined with deep neck flexor strengthening is more effective.
