Mental health problems are the major cause of disability in the world and some 450 million people worldwide currently suffer from some form of mental disease or brain condition. On the other hand, almost half the countries in the world have no explicit mental health policy and nearly one-third have no program for coping with the rising tide of brain-related disabilities. There is also a severe lack of mental health personnel and facilities throughout the developing world.
