Most of the patients in underdeveloped countries are not aware of the functional benefits of tympanoplasty/ossiculoplasty and they generally are contended to live with the discharge and residual hearing loss. It would be possible to do primary reconstruction along with disease clearance in primary sittings if the patients come to us before the complications take over. Patients with normal ETF, large & medium size mastoids, small & medium size perforations of the tympanic membrane will have a good rate of graft take up and will benefit by tympano-ossiculoplasties. Most patients post operatively return to near normal hearing.
