Thyroid disease is often manifested by cardiac abnormalities. A patient of cardiac disease who does not benefit from the routine treatment and when the nature of illness is not entirely in character with its cause, a thyroid dysfunction should be considered. We studied the prevalence and nature of cardiac manifestations in thyroid disorders. We also tried to correlate variables such as age, sex, serum cholesterol levels, chest roentgenogram, ecg and 2Decho studies with thyroid dysfunction. We concluded that the Incidence and severity of cardiovascular involvement are decreasing due to early and prompt recognition with the widespread awareness and availability of thyroid function tests and management of thyroid disorders.
